Samsung DLP TV – Affordable Quality
With the many different technologies of television available, it’s difficult to decide on which HDTV is right for you. Should you purchase a plasma, LCD, or maybe a rear projection HDTV ?
One technology that this writer thought would never be right for him was rear projection. This idea came from seeing a rear projection set many years ago, and being much less than impressed. The image seemed rather dull, with mediocre color and almost a faded look. I should also note that this was in a dealer’s showroom, and was a set from a major manufacturer.
Well, thanks to Texas Instruments and their amazing DLP (digital light processing) system, and Samsung’s implementation, the new Samsung DLP TV models are very impressive indeed. With huge screen sizes, there is a model to accommodate even the largest rooms.
To say these Samsung DLP TV models are better than the older rear projection sets is an understatement. One of the complaints of many rear projection owners (or would-be owners) was that of the rainbow effect. The rainbow effect was simply brief flashes of perceived red, blue and green color, usually on high contrasts images – rolling credits for example.
Since the Samsung DLP TV sets don’t use a rotating color wheel, the main culprit in the rainbow effect anomaly, there is no rainbow effect. Not only that, but there are also no energy consuming (read expensive to operate) arc lamps, that were the light source for all rear projection sets until recently. Now, the Samsung DLP TV models use LEDs (light emitting diodes) as the light source. Since LEDs are solid-state devices, they draw much less current and are much cheaper to operate.
Also, LEDs have a life expectancy longer than humans, so you won’t be replacing the light source in these new Samsungs. In days gone by you would have been replacing the lamps in any other rear projection set every few years. The costs varied, but $200-$300 was not uncommon.
If that weren’t enough, the Samsung DLP TV sets have a much brighter image, an improved color gamut, and just more features overall…especially in Internet integration.
Overall the Samsung DLP TV models are the state of the art in rear projection television. They are very affordable, feature-rich, and have stunning image reproduction that is sure to capture the eye of any discerning couch potato.
If you’re in the market for a large screen television, but aren’t willing to sacrifice top quality, as well as a stunning picture for an affordable HDTV, take a serious look at the Samsung DLP TV models. Samsung LED DLP HDTV technology takes rear projection television to a whole new level.
