In a rare mid-year update, Samsung this morning added a new, high-end lineup to its 8 series HDTVs. The 8500 series uses newer, pure white LED backlights with local dimming to boost the dynamic contrast ratio up to a very high 7,000,000:1, topping even the 5 million of the 8000 it replaces. A newer LCD panel improves brightness and visibility in ambient light, and a Natural mode tries to replicate the color behavior of normally more vibrant plasma displays without giving up brightness.

As the top performer in Samsung’s catalog, the 8000 sets have 240Hz panels and 2ms pixel response times. The same Internet@TV service likewise exists and provides access to media viewing for Flickr and YouTube as well as news and now Twitter feeds.

One of them is the pocket video camera named, Zi8, which is available in raspberry, black and aqua colors. The new Zi8 Kodak camcorder will ship in September 2009 and will cost you $179.95.

Besides this, a new Easyshare camera called Z950 has been also announced by Kodak. The new camera has 12MP sensor and 10x zoom with optical image stabilization. It also has a new smart capture feature that automatically adjusts settings to the scene. The capturing speed is under 0.3 second. It will cost about $279.99 and will ship in August.

The E-Reader market is going to have two new surprise entrants. For new Sony Readers, the PRS-300 and PRS-600, the service manuals have been leaked out on Internet. The PRS-300, which is 5″ gadget with non-touchscreen and has the storage capacity of 440 MB. Sony PRS-300 is a budget E-Reader and it will cost more than $100. The another Sony Reader PRS-600 is a touchscreen device has 6″ screen, an audio output, SD/MS and storage capacity of 380 MB. The PRS-600 will cost near about $200. Both new Sony Readers will be available in red, black and silver colors. There has been no news yet about release date and price.

LG Electronics’s new SL80 LCD HDTV has been announced at its annual Summer Line Show. The television features a 150,000;1 contrast ratio, seamless design, thin bezel, TurMotion 240Hz for fast-moving images, and will be released at the beginning of August. A new LED version of the SL90 was also unveiled and is going to release later this year. Besides this, LG  announced a new 4-door French Door Refrigerator with drawers that can automatically open and close, as well as gas cooktops, new steam dishwashers and slide-in electric range.

The new Sl80 and SL90 series HDTVs feature a single panel of glass over a thin bezel. Intelligent Sensor features are included with both televisions that allows the screens to adjust to the lighting of a room for better picture quality. It also feature LG’s invisible speakers that are incorporated into the seamless design, eliminating common speaker grills on the front bezel of the tv. LG SL80 will be available in 42″, 47″ and 55″ screen sizes and will cost you for $1600, $1900, and $2800, respectively. LG SL90 series will be available in 42″ and 47″ screen sizes. There are no pricing information is avaible for this model yet.

With the release of five new two-tone color combos, Speck has added to its line of CandyShell hard-cases for the iPhone.
