Discount on LCD TV Can be a Great Bargain

It is not unusual during holidays and special times of the year for retailer to offer sales on popular merchandise, as such there are wide opportunities to find discount LCD TVs. Also, as new models get introduced, prices on older models are often discounted to make room in showrooms for the new ones. At such times it is advisable to take a couple of precautions about answering an advertisement for discount LCD TVs. You will need to check out on a few things to find out if the deal is as good as it sounds.

There are times when people buy an LCD television and it does not live up to their expectations. They then return it to the store, sometimes claiming ‘it does not work properly’. The units are returned to the manufacturer/s where they are inspected and, if necessary, repaired. These factory refurbished units are often sold as discount LCD TVs at a reduced cost. It may be used as it has been inspected by the factory or an authorized vendor, and is often found to be a better unit than a new one.

Sometimes the price of a television may seem to be lower than expected and when buyers think it may be from a stock of discount LCD TVs, it may not be high definition. Some consumers are of the mistaken opinion that all wide screen, flat panel televisions are capable of high definition. Several probably are, but some are enhanced definition and others are simple discount LCD TVs that look like high definition units on the outside.

Watch For Special Holiday And Competitive Sales

Every year on the Friday after Thanksgiving, often referred to as Black Friday, retailers officially begin the holiday shopping season and in order to bring in as many customers as possible, retailers sponsor sales with huge savings on many popular items. This can be a great time to find excellent pricing on discount LCD TVs. During this period different retailers and category specific outlets offer deep discounts.

There is also the possibility of buying discount LCD TVs if their original packaging is missing or damaged. Some retailers take them out of the box for display purposes and as soon as a new model comes out the displayed LCD TV’s are offered as discount LCD TVs. This is merely because most consumers believe that once an item is removed from its original packing it cannot be sold as new. There is a high possibility that the displayed LCD TV was never turned on, however it is still considered as used and offered at a discount.

TV Theft

LCD TV asked:

Due to demand on the black market and the price of televisions they are still the most likely item to be stolen during a house burglary. This is even more apparent from a technique we have found thief’s using to target people with large flat panel LCD TV and plasma TV’s.

The method they are using is searching houses for sale on property websites such as rightmove, here they view the images of the properties looking for televisions to steal (take a quick look on rightmove and you will see what I mean with peoples flat panel TV’s on display for everyone to see). Once they have found the target they either just look at the location on the map link, or phone the estate agents and ask which address it is.

It actually gets even easier for would be TV thief’s than being able to see what flat panel TV’s people have and where they are located as many adverts on the likes of rightmove also show floor plans letting them plan the TV theft with even more ease.

This happened to one of my neighbors who is selling his house a few months back, saying that the thief wasn’t all that clever when stealing the LCD TV he had on his wall as they ripped his LCD TV off the wall bracket. The wall bracket snapped and they left a foot print on his wall where they was trying to get some leverage. We had a laugh about this as all they had to do was lift it up and it would have come off the bracket holding the LCD TV against the wall lol.

Unfortunately its hard to think of a way apart from asking the estate agent not to photograph your TV to protect yourself from being targeted in this way, if you are selling your house/flat as you do want to show your property in the best possible light. Also if you are being offered a seriously cheap LCD TV or any type of electrical goods that are unusually cheap you might want to think about where they have come from in the first place as there is unfortunately a large amount of stolen TV’s currently on the market.

How to Buy an Inexpensive LCD TV

ryan@thesatellitetvguide.com asked:

Is it possible to buy an expensive LCD TV?

Liquid crystal display television (LCD TV) technology has come a long way in recent years. The implementation of thin file transistor (TFT) technology has removed many of the angular resolution and ghosting problems previously associated with cheap LCD televisions.

It is now possible to buy an inexpensive LCD TV that has state-of-the-art features and superior picture quality.

What is an LCD TV?

An LCD TV is a flat panel television that utilizes advanced materials technology to create a bright, attractive picture on a flat screen.

An LCD TV screen is made up of two glass plates with a thin layer of liquid crystals in between. When electricity passes through the crystals, tiny color pixels light up to produce an image.

How do LCD TVs Compare to Plasma and Tube TVs?

In the past, plasma TVs were the only real flat panel television option. Now, LCD televisions have progressed to the point where they can compete with plasma TVs in terms of picture quality.

LCD televisions are easier to maintain, less likely to degrade with time, and use less power than plasma TVs. And the new crop of LCD TVs have a sharper picture, require less space, and use much less electricity than tube TVs.

What are the Features of an LCD TV?

Here’s a list of features found on newer model LCD TVs:

* Digital picture – the picture on an LCD screen is much sharper than on a tube TV and is now comparable to plasma TVs.

* Space saving design – LCD TVs are thinner and lighter than tube or plasma TVs, and can be set up almost anywhere.

* Widescreen format – LCD TVs utilize a widescreen format, similar to movie screens, so they are compatible with HDTV programming.

* Flat screen – LCD TV screens are flat, so there’s no distortion as with tube TVs.

Where can I Buy a Cheap LCD Television?

The best way I’ve found to get the best deal on a television is to first check out various models at your local electronics stores and discount stores. After you get a good idea of what you want in a TV and what’s available, go online and check prices and ratings at a comparison shopping site.

With the site I use I can compare various LCD prices and find out which stores are reputable and give good service. I can also get detailed product information, ratings by electronics experts, and even consumer reviews by people who actually own the product.

Forget about sales and discount warehouses. The best way to save money on big ticket items like LCD TVs is to comparison shop online. I’ve saved thousands of dollars on TVs, computers, appliances, and even furniture using this method (click on the links below for more information on the site I use).

The Advantages of Buying an LCD TV

lcd tv
Roberto Sedycias asked:

What does LCD TV mean and how does it function? LCD stands for liquid crystal display. Behind the screen are a number of pixels followed by a fluorescent light. When this light falls on the pixels, an electric current is generated, creating light variations, which make up the vividly colored images that we see. Generally, the twisted nematic liquid crystal is used which has a naturally twisted crystalline structure.

The screen size of an LCD TV varies between 13-46 inches and it is about 2 inches deep in thickness. They are very light and so extremely easy to install. This indicates that they require very little space and come with a very sleek look. In fact, they can very well be compared to the fragile beauty of a woman!

Next is the consideration of the `burn-in` factor. LCD TVs are not susceptible to `ghosting` which results due to premature dying out of the pixels. The uniquely twisted crystals do not allow `burn-in` or `ghosting` to happen.

There has been a marked improvement in the refresh rate or response time of LCD TVs. Previously, the images tended to lag behind and stay on screen for a period of time that was much more than necessary. Recent technological advances have put all that behind. Usually, the response time varies with the size and quality of the LCD TVs.

The contrast ratio in the more advanced LCD TVs is 1000:1. The contrast ratio is measured by the ratio between the brightest white to the darkest black. The scenario has improved here too. Research is on to push the ratio well past the 1000:1 mark.

Sixty-thousands hours is the average life span of an LCD TV. So at an average viewing of 8 hours a day, an LCD TV should last for about 20 years. The life span of an LCD TV is dependent on the back-light. Since it uses a liquid crystal, there is nothing else which can wear out other than the back-light. Technology has found a way around this problem by creating replaceable back-lights as well.

Power consumption, which is perhaps a very important aspect, has a definite advantage in case of LCD TVs. LCD TVs utilize fluorescent back-lighting and so power consumption is low and steady.

LCD TVs are unaffected by changes in air pressure. This makes it a favorite among air travelers. The performance is consistent and the picture flawless, regardless of the altitude of the airplane.

There is much talk about mercury being used for the fluorescent lighting. But, the manufacturers will vouch-safe for the fact that a nominal amount of mercury is used. This mercury does not come in contact with the viewer and so is entirely harmless.

Some manufacturers are trying to incorporate picture-in-picture feature in their monitors. This feature enables a viewer to see one program on the full TV screen while a few other programs can run in small windows in it. The viewer gets the added advantage to watch a particular program, while waiting for the intermittent advertisements to end in another window.

Experiments are on to extend color reproductions in LCD TVs. The idea is to use two back-lights with slightly differing intensities of colors in consecutive frames. This will enable the viewer to experience a better and a more vivid picture using a more precise color variation.

An LCD TV is a whole new experience, the flavor of which can be savored only by purchasing one. The advantages are manifold and the experience is just exotic. Indulging in one is a worthy bargain.
